PRESS RELEASE: EcoBalanza launches new affordable Essential Collection

June 6, 2017 / SEATTLE, WA:  EcoBalanza, a manufacturer of ethical, sustainable handcrafted upholstered furniture today launched their new Essential Collection. Billed as “affordable luxury for your home or business”, the Essential Collection is made with non-toxic components, a constant concern for sustainability, and a deep commitment to quality craftsmanship.  The Essential Collection builds on the company’s existing high-end Couture Collection where each luxurious model can be customized to meet clients’ unique needs.

“For the past 12 years, we’ve been on a mission to build the world’s most comfortable environmentally responsible and ethical upholstered furniture,” says EcoBalanza’s founder and CEO, Aimee Robinson. “We have painstakingly identified the best materials to build our pieces based on their durability and contribution to comfort before selecting ethical suppliers who could meet our exacting standards.” Today, the company only works with third-party certified suppliers who are committed to preserving the environment while operating in a socially conscious way.

Robinson says the Essential Collection launch is a response to growing requests from customers for a more affordable option. “While we have been working with interior designers, homeowners and businesses to create custom, one-of-a-kind pieces for many years, we saw an opportunity to develop a new collection with standardized options so we can pass savings onto our more cost-conscious customers,” she said.

"While the need for green buildings has become an accepted expectation, there is less appreciation for the importance of furnishing those buildings with products that are sustainable and safe," says Amanda Sturgeon, CEO of the International Living Future Institute. She said that companies like EcoBalanza are filling a critical need for home and business owners who want to ensure they are creating spaces that are healthy and beautiful inside and out.

“I am excited to be able to offer a broader range of green options to my clients” says interior designer, Maasa Watanabe from Koko Architecture in New York City.  She says over the past few years, the demand for green upholstered furniture has been steadily growing.

While other manufacturers build green and conventional furniture in the same space, EcoBalanza only builds sofas, sectional, chairs, ottomans and headboards using organic, toxic-free and sustainable materials in their SODO workshop. To accomplish this, Robinson says, it is critical to be in complete control over her supply chain. “That is why we only buy non-toxic materials that have been certified by third parties including the Forest Stewardship Council, the Global Organic Latex (GOL) Standard and The Global Organic Textile (GOT) Standard.”  Robinson says this allows the company to have full visibility into the chain of custody to meet EcoBalanza’s requirements for processing, traceability, environmental management and social compliance.
